Plein Air Painting

Plein air or en plein air painting is simply painting outdoors.  Due to the movement of the sun and changing light conditions, en plein air painting must be done more simply, directly and quickly than studio painting.  I teach several en plein air classes and workshops, mostly in Summer and Fall.

The “Annual Cascades Workshop” is a 2 1/2 day (weekend) workshop taught by Mark Allison and Bill Shumway each year near the middle of September.  We rent a house in Sisters, OR, and usually paint at sites near the exquisitely beautiful Metolius River and Clear Lake.  Contact me for upcoming dates.

Each Summer I teach a 12 week “En Plein Air Around Corvallis” class.  This class runs from June through mid-September, usually Thursdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at gorgeous painting sites in Corvallis, Albany, and Philomath, Oregon.  Contact me for upcoming dates.
